From Singapore you can catch a ferry to batam, Indonesia. Take a taxi to the airport and buy a Lionair ticket to Bengkulu. Theres decent beach breaks, a left hand point break that needs a big swell. Also a few few other surprises that the local surfers can get you to. Accoms at Pring Gading surf camp..ask for Yadi..look for their Facebook. They got hire boards and hire motorbikes. Also can get to Pulau Enggano from Bengkulu by ferry or suss air flights. Waves on Enggano are probably best tackled by experienced surfers, and should have a bit of conversational bahasa Indo as there is no tourism to boy camping gear..

This is quite a late reply to your inquiry but I would suggest BALI as the closest to Singapore... however, you can try out the waves over here in the Philippines.

It's only 3 hours from Singapore and you get to enjoy world class barrels with less the number of people from other places in the world.
