INDO« on: September 09 2005 03:09:00 »
Never been to Indo but I lived for 7 years in Costa Rica and 3 years in Puerto Rico. For those of you who havn't been there, let me spell it out for you V-A-R-I-E-T-Y. And I doubt whoever has gone to Indo ten or fifteen times or whatever knows what they are talking about. Thats what....2 weeks per trip x 15 trips = not even 7 months. And *uck the locals everywhere, their view is tainted and most of the good ones don't even surf half the time. And *uck anyone who is not exactly like me. And *uck you too for reading this.

Aussies open surf camps in indo because of the proximity and the know how, familiarization with the area....i've been in costa rica mexico and plenty other south and central american countries and its a lot of seppos who own those joints same thing different spot...why do people own surf schools same principle mate you want to earn a living doing something you love to do and thats the only way to do it unless your on the wct...maybe some guys do exploit the situation but not all and no need to get aggro and leave an anonomous name on a msg board mate...people will contiually move in to previously semi secret places and try to operate a buisness, look at how many people go lakey peak, desert point ect reality mate

Boycott Panatain surf camp.... this was a world heritage park with ZERO human population until some sad excuses for surfers used bribery and corruption to have the protection status changed so they can make bucks...
PLEASE Boycott any mag, travle company or video made about the camp.
You can still get there by boat... but going onto the island has always been a no-no that was strictly enforced.
Surf Corruption and destruction. Rot in hell those that paid the bribes to build on a world listed heritage site.
Take a stand guys and don't market this camp... have some courage.

Here's the latest & greatest. The next wanker Aussie (no disrespect to Aussies in general, it could have been a seppo) has stepped up as the new camp director. Guy's name is Craig Sheriff & I understand that when he's not slinging hash at Lakeys or taking tourist surf photos, then selling them to whoever they're of (without a working visa in Indo of course), he's renting his zodiac illegally without a KITAS. He's now boasting the Panaitan Nightmare Camp will cost USD $850 per week, and the boats will REALLY be banned this time around.

The big question is......will UNESCO, whom are supposed to govern and protect this world heritage area, stand up and earn what they get paid to do in Indonesia? There will be a jetty/pier built soon to accommodate this ridiculous "eco-camp" that will further hammer this pristine and delicate area. Mr. Sheriff's email, for those that would like to say hello to this new hero, is.... email@example.com . Stay tuned as the next season unfolds. FOPI......HELP!!!!!!!!

I did West Java for 3 weeks in 2002 including 1 week at panaitan. This was on a local fisho boat that was organised by a local kid in cimaja we befriended. A few months later i see the same boat in the now infamous turner bros doco.
Rough as guts on the boat, but we were the only ones there the whole time and got it pretty good. $750 in total for 3 weeks including a week on a boat isnt bad. However there are reports now of people on boats being chased out of the water at gunpoint by the local "eco resort". This is crap and has to stop.

Interested to know what nationality you are. If you are a seppo thats pretty dam rich coming from a nation that rapes and exploits the entire planet.
