Hi Bang
Usually How to go to beach? Do you have a car? I know that good way to go to north of Chiba without highway. Using highway is bad idea. waste money and time. if you know , I'll tell you

Hi Ebi,
I am a Gaijin...i dont have car...so guess...i can only use train travel to the beach (my board 7' so ok to carry it on train or taxi), but last time we rented a car...
I was in Niijima last weekend, took a jet boat (kinda expensive 9,440yen/way)...Niijima is so pretty island but i was unlucky cuz taiphoon closed there so unable for surfing...waves were so dangerous!
Btw, tips for those whose wanna check Hebara beach : good beach for surfing, stay Sunrise Backpacker is the best : good location and good service (pick up from Onjuku station, big/clean kitchen so you can bring food and can cook there by yourself)...I was there end of Sep!
Cheers,

Ebi and Tokyo surf people!!

Moved up from Shikoku in August. Surf is lovely there. I've been hauling my beast(surfboard) around on the trains here in Tokyo for the last couple of months. Been going up to oarai in Ibaraki - going tomorrow actually. But the swell always seems to get messed up by crazy wind.  keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Anyway, if you guys wanna surf through winter I'm up for it. A car would be great but even doing the early mornings on a train with someone else would make a change.

Ebi when you say North Chiba do you mean Choshi?

Hi Japan surfers,

I'll be going to Tokyo on the 11th-14th of february on the way to Australia. Can anybody tell me where the best places to go surfing are and where there are places to rent equipment?

Cheers,

Hey Luke,

Chiba is the place to go in Chiba for regular surfing.

As is saying Ebi, Isu is a beautiful area, it usually works not as good as Chiba but it s prettier for sure.
Shonan is a lake, don't go to Shonan.
In Chiba you have two main areas : North and south.
I know the north well but I haven't been surfing the south that much.
Around the city of Ichinomiya on Chiba north you have one surf shop every 100m so you can rent with no problems.
The owners are usually surfing early in the morning, but at lunch you can usually get them.

Hi Natadiem!
You know about Chiba well Where is your favorite point? I usually go to Yoshizaki hama. It's easy to get wave there for longboarding. Which surf do you use? If you know good places for longboarding please tell me.
