Mombassa's best a bet because fewer sharks from Zambezi Rivermouth feed or migrate here. Peace Corps reps should warn you about local customs and taboos; if you get to surf the sky-blue beachbreaks here, they have power like Oman further north, but no sandstorms.

Tofo & Tofinho« Reply #6 on: April 11 2008 10:04:00 »
I am travelling up to Inhambane on May and i am a bit concerned about the paddle out and power of Tofinho, is it really hard to paddle out? How is the drop in? Any comments on riding this wave are highly appreciated. Any other information about the beach break and other spots near Tofo would be great.
Hi five to the global surfers webmaster, upgrade looks wicked !

Hey Guys I am staying on Tofhino point in June 08, just 4 weeks to go, cant wait. Anyone got any tips for tofhino point or other spots in the area? Anyone surfed this area over this time, I have heard mixed reports of swell and rideable waves, from epic to fickle??
Any news or ideas would be great ..

I used to surf KZN North coast way back, admittedly with nets (Zinkwazi Beach). If you see the shark, there's relatively little danger, just get your feet up and paddle slowly away. If it's after you (thinking you're prey) you probably won't see it coming. Surf with buddies and don't stress too much, they know their menu, and humans aren't on it.

Travelling to either Ponta do ouro or Tofihino with my girlfriend in June. Can anyone shed some light on water temps around then? Springsuit/wetsuit top or just boardies?
Also if anyone know which of the two spots I'm most likely to score fun waves then that would be very helpful in the descision making as well as I'm only going for 10 days..
