La Cangrejera is agreat location with big waves and outstanding sunsets. It is peaceful and clean and just simply beautiful. I lived there for some time and according to my relatives say it a now becoming a great destination for surfing. I can wait until your resort is fully completed for people to enjoy the beautiful sur and becahes of La Cangrejera. And who knows may be I'll stay a there a week or two instead of my family's old beach house.

I am from El Salvador, if you want to go there contact any of the local surf camps at punta mango, el zonte, etc. They'll make sure you get to the rigut places away from gangs and for good prices too. Stay away from La Libertad if you don't want to deal with gangs and thieves, there are plenty of other great (and safer) surf spots.

I was considering going to la libertad, as i know people whove been and they say its a very good wave, but how good is it? ive been told it isnt as good as nias, ulus etc and a lot of waves in indo, i mean with all the pollution, crime, and just not being in a place with good vibes is it worth it? what are the pros vs cons?

I lived in La Libertad from late '99 to late spring of '00 and loved it. I didn't stay out too late or do any surfing but spent all day walking the streets and talking to people. It seemed to be pretty crime ridden with few police.
In May of '05 I went back to visit and noticed more police, new buildings and roads, and everything was so much better than it had been. It may not be the prettiest or safest city, but where is?
I love El Salvador!
