I just spent a long weekend in Sunzal at Alfonso Alvarez' Casa de Mar and can't recommend it enough. Slightly expensive compared to traditional surfer digs, but (1) you sit right on the point, (2) everyone there knows your name, including the owner who will be surfing with you in the mornings; (3) best food on the coast, (4) nothing beats the staff handing you a cold beer/water after you end a two hour sesh. And the whole thing's done to a standard where your wife/girlfriend/boyfriend won't mind sitting at the bar or pool and hanging out while watching you surf.

A group of 6 adults & 3 teens are traveling to ES March 11-19 and are looking for possible places to stay.  Can you send me more information about your place, if it still might be available?  Also any recommendations, etc.  One in our group is fluent in Spanish, so that's a plus for us.  I'm happy for any information you can give.  Thanks

some advices ... depends on how much u want to spend , lots of places , but not all of them safe and clean , i live in el salv
and it´s true there´s lots of danger around here , but if u know the  correct places to go , you'll be ok .
So tell me how much u would like 2 spend, and if you want to stay at the beach (35 min ) from the capital , or at the city hotels.

I am just returned from my 5th trip down to Sunzal.  Fortunately I do not need to stay in the cheapest places as they can be more than primative, they can be dangerous.

I stay mostly inland and work with charity group with  relocated survivors from earthquakes at Ciudad Arce, Village Santa Rosa.  I stay with a wonderful family and know family members up here in states.

I plan to return in June for some surfing and will probably stay at Hotel de Mar again for at least a few days.  I am friends with owners and providers of security.  I am looking to purchase a home there and relocate.  I have

My daughter just arrived in El Salvador for the Peace Corps.  She
is currently in San Vicente.  This is a little off topic, but how would
you rate the safety in that area?
