RE: ny surf spots in cairns region?

I have lived in the cairns beaches area all my life and have never attempted surfing due to the fact that i thaught there wasnt any....until today. A guy from worked invited me out for a surf at one of cairns beatutiful beaches and i had a blast. The waves were at least 2 -4 foot blowing a SE at around 15 kn on a incoming tide. Some times you will find something where you will least expect it.

Yes, there are a few surf sports.
Check out http://cairnslife.wordpress.com/2013/04/04/surfing-in-cairns/
They talk about a spot north of Port Douglas called Rocky Point (which looks sweet for a mal) and there is Ellis Beach, north of Palm Cove.
