Nobody owns the Ocean !!!! Even if it's on your home shores, Hawiians need to understand this. Localism needs to be outlawed, and so do private breaks. Errogance runs rampid on these fORUMS !!!! WHY CAN'T ALL SURFERS JUST GET ALONG ?

Born and bred in the Mid-Atlantic, broh. Sure, I know all about the OBX. I think you can catch some killer waves at times, especially when the surrounding states have no swell, the OBX catches some good waves. (at times, other times, it's flat as the surrounding areas.) I'm just saying, go elsewhere and find out what different waves are like. Broaden your horizons a bit. You want consistent surf? Try Huntington Beach. Want warm sands and good waves? Oahu, brah. My favorite wave? Hanalei Bay on Kauai. Travel, dude. That's all I'm saying.

Why is it that every thread on every message board that exists on the interweb turns into a pissing contest?
The topic of THIS thread is:
WHERE TO SURF ON THE BIG ISLAND IN HAWAII
I acquired hardly any of the subject info whatsoever.

Cali Dreamer, you're pretty cocky and I would love to see you in the water at Banyans. I think that if you even got to the water with that attitude you would be taken care of easily within 10 minutes. I'm sure I wouldn't piss my pants let me know when you'll be in Kona.

Okay, I see lots of information and bandering on here. So I will simply ask were can tourist go with some rental boards with his kids and enjoy a couple hours in the beginner surf, meanwhile making a fool of himself and not get shot, beaten or otherwise mamed on the Big Island?
