Sorry Nicaragua! Its gonna happen. It happened everywhere a surfer has stepped foot. We have a knack for finding some powerfully beautiful places. Then, the corporate surf machine follows. Heck, now they have a seaplane searching and google earth "find the next wave" contest. Nicaragua just happens to be a beautiful place.
Surfers should shut thier mouths. Thats why I never tell anyone where I surf or any of the secrets I'VE EARNED. Remember this site, surfline, and all the other surfsites like it are helping to ruin the "Sport of Kings".
VISITORS: When in Rome, do as the Romans.
NICARAGUANS: I save up all year to do my surf travels. My $$$ goes right to the working man as I never stay in a corporate hotel and only eat at local owned shops.

Thats right cool guy! Keep talking about all your favorite spots. Talk about the sweet beach you found with the super cheap bungalow thats right on the break. Talk about all the fish you spear directly off the beach and the $5 plate lunch that you can never finish. Don't forget about all of the tide information on your favorite break. Remember to tell that a small change in swell direction will open the barrel. Of course, give the exact direction and angle. Remember to tell everyone about that cool local that hooked you up with a joint when you just got through with an epic session and couldn't find any. Make sure to give his name and hang out spot.
Don't forget any info, post it for the world to see.
THANKS FOR RUINING SURFING!!!

Guess what happens when your all done giving the secrets that many men have suffered and earned? You go back to your bungalow that was $15 a night including breakfast but its gone. In its place, luxury condos for $1200 a week. Plus, your dollar beers are now $3. You show up to your favorite spot and there are 50 morons on the peak. Of the fifty, 4 can surf but thier day is ruined by all the corks floundering around. There are no more fish on that nice patch reef you found off the beach because one of the people you told. His friend was a scuba diver and killed all the fish and took some coral for his girlfriend. The plate lunch guy had so many new customers that he doesn't work from his van anymore. Rent on the new place means $10 plate lunches.

Oh yeah, the swell angle just switched up and the barrels are pure filth but there are twenty photographers in the water right where your board wants to go. All stressed out from how things have changed? Need a little something to take the edge off? Well, someone ratted on that nice local and he is in jail. The police know whats up and the prices are now through the roof. Plus, its dirt.
NOW THAT’S PROGRESSS!
THANKS GUYS. GREAT WORK!

I'm an American Surfer, and I don't apologize for that. I've been surfing for 35 years and surfed Nicaragua many times. The Nicaraguan people are 99% some of the finest people i've ever met in all my travels. For the one miserable person posting about the hated Americans, I don't hate are dislike all the Nicaraguans in my country. I accept them with open arms, like we accept many other immigrants, and there are many more Nicaraguans in America than Americans in Nicaragua. So quit acting like somebodys who is spending their money on vacation in your country is trying to steal something. Educate yourself and quit hating so much.

Whether your a grom or someone that has surfed 40 years we all want the uncroweded glassy peak to surf with just your buddy. Change is the only thing for certain, you can try and stop it, contol it or ignore it but it will come.
The list of places that have seen this change is countless, Nicaragua will not be the exception. Most Surfers are good hard workers that raise familys save money and surf when they can. There will always be a few that that either thru immaturity or lack of understanding will pee in the pool and ruin it for many regardless of nationality.
Peace to all.

Truly hate that Nicaraguans have this problem. I actually thought of coming to visit your country but since you hate Americans I definitely have decided not to....Peace out!
