Good going Daryl, you redeemed yourself. Too bad you weren't there when it happened in La Union a few years back during Holy Week. Fortunately the La Union locals took care of things and all was good. There were more than one heroes that day but not much was said about that incident.
My opinions should not be mixed up with actions that save lives which is something that we all agree on. Someone has to keep these forums interesting so if i rag on you too much it's because there are far too many phonies who are out there promoting themeslves.
Anyone of us could easily be a victim no matter how safe the water may be.  Your reaction was priceless and should be recognized unlike the La Union incident.

hey i was wondering why whenever i catch a wave it seems like it almost immediatly crashes on me. i see people surfing the same area and the same waves easily with no issues but i get thrown off the top alot.

I am going to be in the Philippines from Oct 19th to about NOV 10th.  I was wondering how difficult and expensive it is to rent a board.  I don't know exactly where I am going yet due to the major storms.  I am a beginner so any and all advice is appreciated.

Thanks,
Rob

This is to all the people that talk to much........
I know Darryl,he is a kick a.. surfer, and I suggest to everybody out there to wash their mouth before talking about someone else, especially if we are talking about someone that started to surf when other were still playing wiht LEGO.Free way to express their own opinion, but with respect, something that most of people and somebody in particular forget too often!!!!!

tukmol,
I have nothing against the locals.I just respond to people that act and impersonate real surfers, and there are plenty of them in this site. Too bad I only see a few real surfers in the water. The 1's I do see and speak too are really cool though. Hope to see you in the water 1 day.

Everybody's cool until they get drunk and start acting like assholes. You're just an old guy who drinks then tells Pinoys that they should only be taught surfing by your "academy" and preaches to newbies about being the only experienced authority in Philippine surfing, then you bad mouth all the other local surf instructors if they aren't "certified" with your blessings. Gago talaga.

Boknoy,

Is that right? Where have I ever bad mouthed any other surf instructors? You are obviously one of the impersonators that frequent this site. I recommend everyone that wants to learn surfing to have lessons. But I also recommend then to learn from someone that knows how to teach surfing properly. I am not the only coach in the Philippines that knows how to coach. I even tell my clients to get lessons from other coaches, because they can give advice about points I may have overlooked. Boknoy, go down to Ace hardware, buy some wood, then build a bridge and get over it.
