RE: Surfing Hainan

Hey, I'm studying in Shanghai for the next 4 months and just recently found out about Hainan. At some point in the next few weeks I want to get a trip together (maybe 4 or 5 days?). If anyone is interested in joining contact me. I've been surfing for about 10 years and want to find some good waves but I didn't bring any of my boards so I'll need to find one there. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Clem: I posted that last reply before I saw your most recent response. I'd be very interested in heading up to Qingdao to find some surf. Like I said I need to find a board somehow but let me know if you're interested.

RE: Surfing Hainan

Hey all! I too am slightly still a beginner and want to really get better this summer. I will be living in Macau starting this July and was wondering if there was a surf school and possibly a place to rent a board.

If not, is anyone in the area that would want to be kept company out there in the surf? let me know!

RE: Surfing Hainan

I was in Hainan for about 6 months during the winter months. During that time there were days or even weeks on end without swell. Around May there was more chance of caching some waves and there is a few good reef breaks around Ling Shui. Surfed the left break which is just of the main highway as you exit a tunnel coming from the North. Keep turning well left on the break though as there are some pretty nasy rocks. Can't remeber the name but is around the moon/sun bay area and there is an small island visible from the coast. Summer months are Typhoon season and the best time to catch some big swell.

RE: Surfing Hainan

Hi guys,

I am making an internship in Zhuhai, China, and I am planning to make a trip to Hainan.
As I have heard it´s possible to surf there.
I´m just a beginner but I want to improve my surf, so can somebody tell me where I can find a spot on Hainan which is good for beginners.

Thanks, Marius
