Yes there are waves to be had up in Danang. Usually stormy but consistently surfed 3 times a wk last yr. Don't know about transporting your board- you could take sleeper train/bus and sleep next to it to be sure, or there are places here to rent boards.

Good to know.
I am in Thailand (Phuket) for a couple of weeks before I head to Viet Nam. Hopefully get some waves there also. I hear there is surf there through til about November.
Looking forward to getting some waves in Viet Nam. Hopefully its not too stormy and messy. Hopefully a few windless (early) mornings or something like that.
As I said earlier - even if I get one or two surfs in I will be happy!
Being from New Zealand - any surf I can have in board shorts is a good surf! hahaha.

Been heading into Vietnam since 2000, some very good but occasionally inconsistant surf breaks around, mostly north of Nha Trang and up to and a little past Da Nang
for the very best of course you need a boat or a motor bike for the dirt tracks to get you there. Hire fishing boat to areas around Omg Dien coast line, its the only method of travel to this area. South of Nha Trang airport is a military zone which has a good surf break too, trouble is getting to it. Favorite right had reef break (easy accessable is at a place near
Mui Doi long right hander similar to Kirra beach brake.

Check out Nha Trang, specifically Bai Dai Beach. There is a bar called the Shack that rents boards and provides lessons. There website is www.shackvietnam.com
