sharks are not the problem! Salt water crocoodiles are the real predators to watch out for. Sharks are notorious on the east coast of Costa, in the northern regions at large rivermouths. Scary, and true indeed.

I heard that dog poop is a excelent shark repelent. Many people here in Costa Rica rub it all over there arms and legs before entering the water, thats why there are no shark attacks here. The last attack I heard of was up in Marbella, by a tiger shark. The surfer actually fell on top of the shark, so you cant really blame the shark. Plus, the guy didn't put on his dog poop repelent. Also, stay away from places highly populated with sea turtles, the tigers main diet.

Hi...totally unrelated to the shark question, but I am in so cal and thinking about studying language abroad...not really sure how to start researching it.  Is it like a Spanish immersion program?  Would you mind emailing me the info?
