There is a London surf club which meets on the last Wednesday of every month in the Potion Bar from 8.45pm - they seem to organise a lot of trips around the place to surf (and drinking sessions in the city to comiserate when it's kicking off down in North Devon).

Personally I don't think it's too bad to go surfing from London.  I'm from Devon and if we go down there we hire a car and drive down at about 11pm - it only take about 3 hours, nearly 4 if you go up to North Devon (I stay near Exeter).  An early rise on Saturday and you get a great day's surfing at Saunton, Croyde or Woolacombe and if you're knackered sleep on the beach.  Can't see that it's that much of a hassle to get down there.

I dont get it.........why drive to Devon or Cornwall, when you can get a £45 return to the North of Spain. It's a lot cheaper, takes less time to get there and the food is a million times better!!!

I'm coming from California to work in London. I'd like to earn some money and then bum it for a while just surf. It's real easy to do that here at home don't need much money. If anyone's down to plan a trip in a few months let me know. By the way what's the commute like from Bromley, to anywhere surfable, southeast I'm guessing? Thanks a lot.

Why do u want to move to London?
Unless you are going to get a high paid professional job, its hard there to save money, why dont you find a job near a surf spot in the UK or Europe?

Ashley, from Bromley, get to Gatwick airport (45 mins) and get a thomsonfly dot com flight to any of the Canary Islands........Youll be in the surf quicker than any drive to the south west of England, with warmer weather and it'll probably be cheaper!!

Australia, besides a few overcrowded beaches, is a pretty ugly and worthless place. A giant desert with ugly Eucy trees everywhere. More sh!t that can kill you wandering around there, including the stupidest people on Earth I've met, the Aussies. It's just what happens after hundreds of years of criminal inbreeding. The beaches there do not compare to the best of California and Hawaii. Period. That's why they save up the few bucks they can scrounge up and overcrowd Bali.
Now Neil, you need to understand that as an American, you're going to be called out and ganged up on by these louts.

Scottish guy, go home, you have nothing to fall back on. Go pick a fight with someone from Romania or Bulgaria. Should be an even fight between drunken congenital criminals.
Londoner, you have no surf and live in a babylon hell hole. Londonistan sucks on too many levels.
Aussies, well at least you guys surf, but your surf comes nowhere close to the best in the US, kind of like your films, music, food, and so on. You wanted arrogant well you got it.
Bu-bye

The funniest things, is that none of you blowhards would or could make it out to the 40-100 feet waves you've been arguing over. Stick to the 2 foot shore breaks kooks.
