gosh at least we now them yanks are good for one thing, A GOOD LAUGH.

dont klnow whats he's on about, scotland probs some of the best breaks in the UK, but no matter, wouldnt want it gettin clogged up wid junk for over the pond. and who says that the best waves in the world have to be the biggest, in all honesty the big ave surfers aint the most gracefull of riders, yes they have endurance, dedication and balls a hell of a lot bigger than u or me, but justy because ther surfin the biggest waves in the world doesnt make them the best.

It would be great if we could get a pool together of people from London who want to surf who could share trips to good surf spots at the weekends. I know Croyde quite well and there's plenty of good surf there for all abilities to practise on.

Likewise. I'm sure there are heaps of people looking for partners in crime to travel from London's concrete jungle to the coast on a regular basis [myself included]. But so far all I have seen is post saying basically if your car has room for one more please contact me. I'm thinking it must be quicker to travel by train out of London, although I have not been able to find much info online about getting trains to the southwest. I say put our heads together and come up with a plan, rental cars can work, as most people living in London don't own cars but you can get a rental for the weekend quit cheep. That's what I'm planning to do in the future but I don't have a UK licence at the moment.

What you all seem to neglect is that Brighton (about 1hrs drive away) can throw up a decent swell every now and then, same goes for bournemouth. Its cheaper and easier to get to than the west country so i s perfect for those who want to surf on a budget and can put up with a challenge in terms of conditions.

Harsh.... but fair!

I can't pretend to surf any massive breaks or actually be much cop at surfing at all, but i surf the north sea and can relate to the freezing cold and empty lineups even in the summer let alone 7am on a late january morn. Too many web-surfers here trying to sound clever me thinks. My suggestion is discuss such matters out back while waiting for the next set and you might just learn a few things that aren't 'cut and pasteable'.

...... Oh, and no offence intended..... ;)

Easy...3hrs drive west on the M4....South Wales, take your pick of any of the breaks on the Gower.
