Description of Poo Beach, Benin
use the river to take u back out after each wave. i have heard (from lonely planet) that there are sharks and crocs in the area but didn't come across any and haven't in other west african waters either. honestly the beach is covered in poo. the locals in the shanty use the beach as their permanent dumping ground as they don't have loos. this only poses a problem walking along the sand though, once in the water you are safe as they always drop those babies above the high tide mark as they are shit scared of going near the water. it's pretty cool and would have to say better than anywhere i have surfed in nigeria. i am sure it would go off at times, when the wind is right - probably during the harmattan. i surfed it light cross / onshore but was well worth it and would go again for sure.
