Very consistent spot, especially between September and March, with long (compared to other spots in the region) rippable wave (rights and lefts), just perfect for beginners due to a deep channel on the left, slow currents, and smooth (close-out-free) wave
Targeted visitors for a fixed low yearly fee. $135 per year puts your name and link here.

Oops! I forgot to mention that I have started reading the Cost of Discipleship by the German theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer during the midst of Nazi rule. I’ve barely started reading it, and I have a profound admiration for his love and devotion for Jesus. He defied the Nazis, and paid the ultimate price for it when he was executed at the concentration camp at Flossenburg on April 9, 1945 . . . just a few day before it was liberated by Allied forces. Witnesses state that he went to the gallows with admirable calmness and dignity. Without a doubt, he was committed in his love for Jesus. cheap california auto insurance cialis
she produced the eggs for their breakfast each morning, and that was dedication [devotion]. The hog said that while the hen may be devoted, he [the hog] supplied the ham, and that was commitment [love].I feel just like Pastor Jon with his fishing trip yesterday. I’m not too sure where I’m going with this either. Hopefully, you, and everyone else, will derive something useful from my ramblings. As we all know, the degrees of devotion run from one extreme to the other. A person can be devoted to a particular cause, or a devoted fan of a pro team, movie star, etc; as well as a pet can be devoted to its owner. When we forsake all others, or everything else, for the object of our devotion; then we are truly committed. And this is where each true Christian should want his or her relationsip with Jesus to be. online degrees cialis
Hello Cindy. I must confess that I am not the originator of that little analogy about the hen and the pig. I first heard it about 25 years ago when I was a supervisor for Virginia Power. It was part of a motivational seminar during one of my supervisory training classes. By reading about Bonhoeffler’s life experiences, I expect, or maybe I should say hope, to be inspired to be stronger in my faith. To me, just thinking about a German speaking out about Jesus during the 30′s and ’40′s in Nazi controlled Germany is awe inspiring! Bonhoeffler paid the ultimate price for it which he accepted admirably. He is truly an unsung hero in my book. Since Bonhoeffler was mentioned in the Radical book, I suspect his presence will be, or should be, felt throughout. As I read Radical, more or less simultaneously with the book on Bonhoeffler, I will remember Bonhoeffler, and other heroes as well. I think it will add another dimension to my understanding of the book Radical. MBA online college online
Thank you Alan for your thoughtful answers. I gleaned much from them. Perhaps the message hasn’t changed over the years because God’s people haven’t changed like He needs us to.For some reason, I have really been pondering and meditating on #2, the question of devotion. What am I devoted to? First time my brain read that question, the answer was a blank (isn’t that sad?). But as I kept noodling through it, my answer centered on my marriage – marriage being the one thing that God uses over and over and over to show us how our earthly relationships are like our relationship with Him. I am devoted to my husband. I cherish him. No one on earth loves me like he does. He has been my constant companion these 23 years past and hopefully the next 23 and the next 23, etc. He tells me hard things, things I don’t want to hear, because of his love for me. He helps me be a better person. He has proven himself to be a trustworthy leader, one who has earned my utmost respect. We talk about all kinds of things, nothing is off limits, and we argue and disagree. Sometimes, he knows me better than I know myself. And, it goes without saying, he would willingly give his life for mine. Because I am devoted to him, I try to please him. I do not want to disappoint him. I want to make him happy. I try to anticipate what his needs may be and respond accordingly. And in our culture that is so opposed to this, I even try to obey him – he has earned my respect and trust so the things he asks me to do are not always that difficult, but some are. All this is how I am to be devoted to God – all my heart, soul and mind. Try to live a life that pleases Him; to act in ways that point others to Him; to act in ways that show I am studying His word and am obeying His commands.Micah’s dog is devoted to me. It is an unconditional devotion that never complains or whines or second-guesses me or scolds me when he’s not fed on time. I am not like that in my relationship with my husband or my God. Yet, all three of them are very forgiving and loving. Devotion is a two-way street. For me, the object of my devotion must be worthy, perhaps because He does not treat me as I deserve. God certainly is that. And this dovetails into questions 1 and 6. If God is worthy of my devotion, isn’t He then worthy of abandoning all for? Theoretically, yes. But yet, it is so hard for me to give up everything for Him. My fear gets in the way. My selfishness gets in the way. My happy little life in my happy little house gets in the way; and that I think is the point of the whole book. But I know that whatever God calls me to, even if I wrestle with Him like Jacob did, He will equip and strengthen me to do that. And that also means that I have to stay in my swim lane, I can’t try to do the things He has NOT called me to do. I have a friend who’s daughter is a midwife in Afghanistan. God has not called me to that, yet He has called me to support her through prayer, something we are all called to do.I suspect that if I/we do what I am/we are told to do (pray, read, study, live and memorize His word, forgive, love, be kind, be joyful, patient, etc.) then at some point the thing He may call me/us to do won’t be quite so hard to actually do.Thank you Jon for starting this discussion forum! car insurance car insurance
Discussion Questions:1. What exactly is meant by abandoning everything? By commanding us to sell all of our possessions and give to the poor; are we to physically sell our ALL of possessions, and blindly follow Him living off the land as we go; or are we being told to realign our sites to let go of our desires for earthly possessions, and follow Jesus by helping the poor? [A Call to Treasure, Pg 17] One radical thought that came to my mind after I read this is shouldn’t we give Jesus to the poor first? 2. Devotion is the art of giving your all to, and living your every moment for the object of your devotion. 3. Quite simply, our dedication to our spiritual life should reflect on other areas of our lives, and help us direct our footsteps in the way they should go. 4. Plain and simple, Jesus should be worthy of our devotion. He will provide our every need. 5. Basically to forsake your family, and love only Jesus.6. Speaking for myself, the ways, and not necessarily the wicked ways, of the world had a tendency to get in the way. Working rotating shifts, and long hours on many occasions kept me from walking as closely as I could have walked otherwise. At the time, I felt led to do it to provide for my wife and family. Ephesians 5:25 instructs husband to love their wife as Jesus loved his church, and to gave himself for it.7. An aspiration is a strong desire to achieve a something of greatness. A goal is gazed upon as more of a target to hit or achieve. In other words, having the desire to achieve a lofty goal would be an aspiration. 8. Costs would be giving up one’s family, bearing one’s the cross, and forsaking all worldly possessions. I do believe Pastor Jon covered these verses in his sermon a couple of Sundays ago. 9. On the surface, one would be quick to say everything means everything; but in reality, I would think one should be able to retain enough for survival. Although it’s a not biblical reference, even the squirrel stored forage for the cold winter ahead. 10. These verses should apply, well, let me rephrase that . . . I should apply these verses to my life better than I do. Okay, before I realized the questions were above, I jumped right in, and laid pen to a few thoughts. Thankfully, I found the questions before posting my response, so I thought I would share the following thoughts primarily to add to the discussion, and hopefully, elicit some response. I might add that my initial thoughts, or first paragraph, were incorporated into my answer for question #1, too. I want to share this true story to provoke some thought. Some twenty-five years ago, I knew of a man who professed to be a Christian, and he gave to his church very faithfully, and then some; or so I was told. He made an excellent salary, but one day, he failed to report to work. Later in the day, the call came in that his car’s battery was toast, and he did not have the money to buy a new one. The message that some of his co-workers heard was why was he abandoned by God, and his church. Opinions?Falling into the trap of worshiping ourselves in the guise of worshiping Jesus on Sunday morning [ What About Us?, Pg 13], to me, is a re-take, or a slant, of the Sunday morning Christian, and Monday morning non-Christian comparison that has been preached from more than one pulpit since I was a young fellow. I would venture to say that even before I was even born, too. I would like to read the book, The Cost of Discipleship, that was penned by German theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer during the midst of Nazi rule. Just thinking about its ramifications is awe inspiring to me. It is very easy to lose sight of the goal, too. Undoubtedly, some preachers who start churches have the proper intentions of saving souls, and having their flock grow in size. On the other hand, other preachers either lose sight of the goal, or even worse, never had this goal in their sites; and concentrate on creating their little kingdom on earth. I stop short of referring to these kingdoms as mega-churches cause I do not know the hearts of all churches, and I am not the one to judge. As we all should know, God does the judging, and deals with everything accordingly. We do not have to remember too far back to recall the kingdom builders who felt God’s wrath after they turned from God, and started worshiping themselves. florida auto insurance infinity auto insurance
