This spot is offers about as much fetch as you can get on Lake Superior. There are almost ALWAYS waves; The dominant wind direction is westerly. On the flip side, the water is very deep, and only a "big" swell will break. Otherwise, it's just huge shorepound. A 30 knot(or more) West will usually do it.
Don't expect offshore or clean conditions. It just doesn't happen. But even when windy, the waves hold some decent shape.
Expect Ice to start piling-up in late December. This usually lasts until around May.
