Description

Putsborough is tucked away at the southern end of Mort Bay, down from the popular resort of Woolacombe. You need a vehicle to get there. Follow the road that runs south out of Woolacombe over a steep hill to the next village, where a sharp right takes you down quaint country late to Putsborough. Theres a car park that charges a small fee for the day. You can walk down from the car park down s stepped path to the beach (there's a cafe there in season which is good for hot soups, chips etc). The beach stretches north, but the best breaks are where the waves get pushed against the headland onto the shore. It can be busy, but never as bad as the better known surf spot at Croyde on the southern side of the headland. Watch for the southerly drift that can push you onto the rocks, but there's no real danger, just a hard paddle to get out.
