In January-February this may be the only spot in Ghana worth checking out. Unfortunately the best wave (near the castle) goes smack into some very large rocks - a sure way to lose a board. The waves do get a decent size (for Ghana) but they break right on the shore - you have to be incredibly patient to catch anything beyond maybe 30 metres from the beach. A long board is definitely recommended and, finally, don't expect any left or right handers because the whole wave closes out at the same time - it's a short, straight ride virtually all the way onto the sand. An ideal wave for learners. And it's pretty nice surfing with a castle in the background around sunset.
