Description

The prevailing trade winds make this spot a hit-and-miss kind of wave. I goes unnoticed most of the year until the Kona, variable or light northerly wind kick in. The take-off is easy because it's shaped by a large flat reef that goes out about 100yards. Once you take off you'll know when you see the shoulder whether or not you'll have time to fade and come up the face for a snap or you'll have to speed up down the line. There are fat portions of the wave that make speed and timing crucial and you want to avoid them at all cost. How I generally ride this wave is simple. Fade take off, snap off the lip, double pump to generate some speed, roundhouse cutback, pick up more speed for the inside race track...the water is getting shallow and speed is crucial, then the options are floater, barrel ride or pull out.
