Description

Negril, Jamaica is located on the West Coast of the island. The area surrounding Negril is predominantly flat. However during the winter months strong Cold Fronts will sweep down from the Gulf of Mexico producing sizable and often perfectly shaped waves, with off shore trades blowing all day, everyday. Negril is a seven-mile long stretch of beach with numerous beach breaks all along the this picturesque white sand beach. The best waves can be found in front of the For Real, Ideal Awhile and Footprints hotels. There are also quality waves in front of Risky Business. Surfing is not prevalent in Jamaica so there will be no other surfers in the Negril area. I spent a over 6 weeks in Negril last Feb-March and got 2 days of perfect chest to 1 ft. over head surf on April 1, 2003 (no fooling).
