Hachijo has one of the most consistent surf breaks in Japan. Situated in the Izu Islands, South of Tokyo.Widely recognized by Japanese surfers. There are three break points at Tacos. Easy access from Tokyo. Plan for a trip of at least 2-4 days from Tokyo. Rentacar is almost essential although public transport is available although infrequent. Best waves are around Typhoon season mainly in September but can run as early as July and as late as October. Free campground with 4 star facilities open all year round.
