Tofinho is formed by the rocky outcrop with the old communist monument on it and is open to the sea. In good swell the wave breaks on the rock shelf below the point and runs to the beach and operates best on a pushing tide. Can get epic and barrels. The paddle-in is quite easy between sets if you set out from between the boulders on the beach in the north corner of the bay.
There is another point break just to the north formed by a smaller rock outcrop that breaks up the beach. This can be fun in pushing tides if the main point is not firing. The wave jacks up really quickly on the rock shelf that sticks out from the point and breaks right with lots of power.
Tofo bay can also get fun beach breaks in bigger swells and operates in any tide. The reef protecting the bay keeps the sharks out.
