Description

This is a very long left pointbreak in Peru (the pont itself is about 4km long, but the best waves at the top of the point usually 'only' go for about 300-400m), and it picks up heaps of swell. Unfortunately it only just handles the dominant south wind, so best before the wind picks up in the arvo. The takeoff is in front of the point and if the wind is up from the south it is cross onshore, but once on the wave it gets a little more offshore. It is hollow, fast, and powerful, and breaks for up to 500m (or even more if you are lucky), but usually good rides are about 300-400m. Holds some size, up to 12 feet, but the current gets strong. Paddle out from about 200m south of the point, and the current will take you around, if it is big it is very hard to get out and you may have to paddle from further down the point. All in all a world class wave, hollow, consistent and fast.
