Description

This is a reasonably good left pointbreak that breaks similar to Pacasmayo to the north, but perhaps not quite as good. The wave starts in front of the rocks with a nice hollow 100m section before it backs off a little in the bay, and goes for about another 200m or more. Like Pacasmayo it is pretty hollow and strong in the first 100m, but the second section of the wave in the bay is more forgiving, and can be ridden by the less experienced. Can only really be surfed before about 10 AM as the dominant south wind (just about everyday) pretty much wrecks it. Best to hit it at dawn, and best at 4-7 feet, maybe 8, but it doesn't hold much more than this (ie it closes out). Tide low if small, otherwise high tide is ok when bigger. Completely empty most of the time. Jump off the rocks if its small, or paddle from the cove when bigger. Not much current in the water for a change, for Peru.
