A left hand pointbreak breaking over sand.

Huanchaco is a very long pointbreak over about 500m, (sand over rock) that breaks in about 3 different sections, starting from about 400m south from the pier. It LOOKS like it could link up all the sections on big days when the banks are right, making an incredible ride. It's alternatively fast, hollow, or fat, depending on where you are on the wave. Its starts working at 3-4 feet, and looks like it will hold up to about 8 feet (more?), and it picks up plenty of swell meaning it can be relied upon, unlike Chicama to the north. The last section near the pier was very hollow and tubing when I was there. It does section a bit, but on the right day (southerly swell, good banks) this point probably goes off its nuts.
