Description

Kalim beach is situated at the northern end of the popular beach of Patong. It works best with an oblique swell as when the swell is directly onto the beach the wave tends to close out. It can be surfed at all states of the tide but mid to falling tide works best. Generally the wave here is not as big as Kata noi and Kata but it is sheltered and if the other beaches are closing out the wave is still ridable here, although it can be fun even when not that big. The bigger the swell the hollower and faster the ride. The wave breaks onto a coral bottom and goes left and right, the central area of the beach is where most people surf but there is a good little right hander furhter out an to the northern end.
