It's on an Indian Reservation, so be respectful and buy a recreational use permit in Neah Bay ($5). This beach is beautiful and never crowded, although the waves are usually a bit fat and mushy. I would not reccommend riding anything shorter than 8' or you're not going to catch anything. Even though the waves are usually soft and good for beginners, on bigger days they can close out hard and cause rip tides. I would recommend being a very strog swimmer and going with someone who knows how to surf if you're a beginner, especially since there is usually hardly anyone around. It's really cold, not only in the water (about 50F), but the air temp is rarely above 60F even in the summer and is much colder other times of the year. Closest place to rent is in Port Angeles, at North by Northwest Surf Shop, but there are places to rent in Seattle, too (Urban Surf, Cheka-Looka Surf Shop). Most of the surfers there are from Seattle and are extremely friendly. The campsite is outhouse-only, but also has little cabins to stay in ($40 a night) that are very preferable in cold weather or if you want a shower and a toilet (they have little kitchens too). There are little motels in Neah Bay, but hardly any surfers stay there.
Targeted visitors for a fixed low yearly fee. $135 per year puts your name and link here.
