Description

Port Resolution is a large protected Bay on the east coast of Tanna. There are numerous surf breaks within walking distance of the local village. The only place to stay is the Port Resolution Yatch Club, situated on a clifftop overlooking the bay. The bay is an excellent anchorage for yatchs. The waves are 1) CANOES-On larger swells there is a long peeling left & right inside the bay. Its always protected from the wind and easy to surf. 2)HOT WATER-Across the bay near a volcanic hot water vent there is a small peaking wave breaking over unusual coral. 3)VILLAGE BEACH-An open beach, 5 min walk east from the village provides large (6-8ft)waves that break mainly left over close to shore coral reefs. 4) LONG WALK POINT-At the south end (15 min walk) of this beach a huge (10 foot plus) righthander breaks in deep water near rocks (a point)and peels over 300 m across coral!! 5) PORT RESOLUTION-Walk through the jungle north of the village to small beaches and there are inter connecting right hand waves breaking on closeby reefs, around the corner all the way to the entrance to the Port (bay).
