Where to surf in India Late May?« on: April 26 2010 05:04:00 »
First of all i don't have a surfboard. So im looking for a place with decent waves where you can rent a board. Does that exist in India?
Im currently living in Mumbai and now im trying to arrange a surf trip for a cuple of weeks, starting in the end of May.
I've been looking att various forums without any luck. Im open for every location in INDIA except for GOA(since i've already been there once)
The combo with surfboards to hire+waves is not easy to find in India, right? That's weird in a land of entrepreneurs...
If anyone have any info at all, please share.

I rented a board in Colva Goa, Varkala and Kovalam in Kerala, however at varkala they only had a body board. Colva and Kovalam I did find fiberglass surfboards, but hey it was extremely hard to find, like take a rickshaw into the hills where someone pulls out an old board with cob webs from under a house. This was a good while back so things may have changed. I did not find any commercial places to hire boards. Bring your own and explore the coast, you will be rewarded.

Check www.rentasurfboard.com, they now have a board rental center in Western India. Looks like Indian surfing starts to be less confidential.

Good news, there is a place in India with decent waves & Surf board rental. Come to Cocopelli Surfschool in Gokarna. We provide all kinds of boards. Just check out www.cocopelli.org
From May onwards waves getting little bit bigger in Gokarna because of the monsoon, up to 8 ft. If your looking for smaller waves just come little bit earlier in the year or around Sept - Dec.
